I hope you all had a great Fourth of July holiday weekend!  Mine was filled with all of my favorite things: great friends, beautiful and delicious food, fireworks, photos, and travel (more on that later).  My immediate family never does anything big on this holiday, except for a few years we went fishing on my dad's boat so that we could watch the fireworks from the ocean ... which was absolutely amazing.  But since we had no plans this year, I wanted to make time to spend with some dear friends of mine who will be in California for the next five months.  Our other friend Caitlin had invited them over to her (beautiful) home in Kailua to BBQ and walk down to watch fireworks after ... I invited myself along hah.

But I am so glad I did, Caitlin's home is the stuff out of magazines!  I couldn't get over it... I walked around for a good 15 min just taking pictures of all the amazing decor she had to accent these beautiful driftwood walls with white trim.

I think I'll be inviting myself over more often, there is just something great about being in beautiful spaces.  And it doesn't hurt that it's in walking distance from the beach.

We arrived to a little Bloody Mary bar set up on her stove, and with friends like mine you can be sure that everything must be equally pretty, as it is delicious.

We shared stories over playing a game of bananagrams while snacking on pickled mango I made a couple days before.  Caitlin totally kicked our butt.

We then started the fun part of the day, cooking.  Each of us took on a task: juicing limes and lilikoi picked fresh from the yard, marinating steak, starting up the grill, and prepping other side dishes for dinner.   Which included buttered organic carrots, sea asparagus with shallots, spicy ahi poke, and a blueberry feta salad.

It was one of the most beautiful dinners I think i've ever been apart of making.  I'm thankful for friends who are as 'crazy' as I am about beautiful food ... and succulents.  More so, the food.

We enjoyed an air show under her plumeria tree in the front yard, then walked down to the beach to enjoy the Kailua Fireworks show.  We were treated to the most amazing sunset, Thank you Jesus.  And then a beautiful fireworks show.  It was the perfect end to a perfect holiday.
